Chocolate Orange Overnight Oats

Orange and chocolate are one of my favourite combinations – possibly due to an obsession with Terry’s chocolate orange when they were on sale for too good a bargain for about a year in my local shop. I could eat those as fast as a bag of crisps even though I’m fairly sure they’re meant for at least two people. Anyways this was the inspiration behind my latest overnight oats flavour. The addition of orange zest and juice is a wonderfully refreshing way to wake you up in the morning and get a boost of Vitamin C.





1/2 cup oats

1/2 cup almond milk

1 tablespoon freshly squeezed orange juice

Zest of half an orange (grated)

1 heaped teaspoon cocoa powder

1 teaspoon honey (can add more if you want it sweeter – the citrus flavour is strong so it’s up to your taste)

1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract

Toppings (optional):

Spoon of yoghurt, cocoa powder, orange zest, honey.


Put the oats and almond milk in a bowl or jar and stir.

Add the remaining ingredients.

Cover and leave in the fridge overnight.

In the morning simply remove from the fridge, add you toppings and enjoy! (No need to heat them up).

*Since you’re using natural ingredients the intensity of flavour might vary. Therefore I always taste as I go along and adjust as needed. If you want a more subtle taste you can add less orange zest – but I find it mellows out overnight anyway. If you want it a bit sweeter then you can add a little bit more honey in the morning. It’s all down to personal preference and I always encourage people to experiment with flavours!
