Constant checking of phones and notifications even when you’re mid conversation has become so normal that it really takes something pretty special to make you stop. That’s exactly what happened last night when a group of Into the West Blogger Network bloggers met up in the House Hotel Galway for cocktails and chats. Naturally we spent the first few hours tweeting, instagramming and facebooking every last detail about our cocktails and food but when the cocktail bar closed up around 1am we just sat and talked. Nobody felt the need to check their phones for a good two hours and next thing we realised it was 3am and most of us had to be up for work in a few hours.
But that’s what happens when you’re with a group of people who share a common interest that they are passionate about. Even though at the start of the night we didn’t really know each other that well we did by the end but that could have been because of the delicious House Cocktails…The firm favourite of the night was the Hollaback girl (if anyone remembers the drink that used to taste like frosties sweets this is the love-heart version, great if you have a sweet tooth!). Another one that’s up there on the list is the Galway Girl and if you can get past the idea of a raw egg in your drink then you have to try The Superman – full of protein 😉
|We <3 champagne|
|We <3 food more though…|

The Into the West Blogger Network (ITWBN) is a group that was set up by two Irish bloggers, Sinead Carroll and Saibh Egan due to the lack of a support network for bloggers in Ireland. Blogging can be lonely as you spend a lot of time behind a computer screen and you’re never even fully sure if people are reading or liking the posts you put a lot of effort into writing. It also requires a some knowledge of social media as well as how to run a blog or website which isn’t something most people are taught so having a network like this where people are willing to share advice and tips is invaluable. ITWBN also organise fantastic events, the most recent of which was in the Radisson Galway which was attended by over 80 bloggers with stands for companies to display and sell their products, guest speakers, goodie bags and networking opportunities.
They are already planning their next event for May in the G Hotel and listening to them talk about some of their plans for the future and how excited they are for the network is contagious. These ladies know what they want and how they are going to get it but the refreshing thing about them is that they genuinely really want to help others and are very open about sharing advice and things that have worked for them and aren’t keeping their knowledge to themselves even though blogging can be very competitive.

Overall we had a fantastic night in the House Hotel however facing work this morning was not that fun…but waking up to the news that I made it through to the semi-finals of the Online Marketing in Galway Awards Best Blog category made it that bit easier!
